The most frequently known is Burma Teak but due to heavy deforestation campaigns and political reason, its availability is nowadays limited. Balinese and Java Teak are alternatives very similar to Burmese Teak, and are usually heat treated to reduce color variations. Teak offers excellent stability characteristic.
Color: Heartwood varies from yellow-brown to dark golden brown; turns rich brown under exposure to sunlight.
Grain: Straight; coarse, uneven texture.
Hardness: 1000 Janka (average).
